The Great Imaginary Shoe Convention
An imaginary story from the equally imaginary world of Rejuva Sole.
Every year, somewhere deep inside Tammy’s imagination, all supportive shoes gather for the Great Imaginary Shoe Convention.
This year’s meeting was hosted by Scout at his completely imaginary house.
The Brooks Glycerin 23 arrived first.
“Please don’t wrinkle my laces,” it politely said while admiring its reflection in the window.
The Brooks Revel 9 sighed.
“I wasn’t supposed to be here.”
The Glycerin smiled.
“I know. But everything worked out in the end.”
Across the room, the Hoka Gaviota 5 stretched comfortably across three chairs.
“I’m not taking up too much room, am I?”
“Only three seats,” replied the Phoenix.
The Orthofeet Coral walked in wearing its stretchy knit upper.
Everyone gasped.
“How do you stay so comfortable?”
Coral smiled.
“I don’t judge swollen feet.”
The Orthofeet Yari nodded proudly.
“We’re all about making everyone feel welcome.”
Suddenly…
The door burst open.
CLUNK…
CLUNK…
CLUNK…
The New Balance 928v3 arrived.
Everyone turned.
“You’re… heavy.”
The 928 smiled proudly.
“I prefer the term…
Stable Anchor.”
Tammy immediately stood up and applauded.
The Brooks Adrenaline GTS 25 quietly leaned against the wall.
It didn’t brag.
It didn’t show off.
It simply smiled.
The other shoes whispered,
“There goes the overachiever.”
Just then…
The Saucony Endorphin Shift 3 stumbled into the room.
“I’m here!”
The Chicken looked up.
“Oh no…”
Before anyone could react…
The Chicken had somehow put BOTH Sauconys on the wrong feet.
“I feel fast!”
“You can’t even walk!” yelled an egg.
“I don’t have to.
I’m imaginary.”
Meanwhile…
Steve’s FitVille Rebound NEO V6 sat comfortably in the recliner.
“I’ve already won.”
“How?”
asked the Hoka.
“Steve chose me.”
The room became silent.
Even Brooks nodded respectfully.
The Phoenix stood and raised a wing.
“My friends…
Every shoe here was designed to solve a different problem.
Some help swollen feet.
Some help tired knees.
Some provide extra stability.
Some offer soft cushioning.
No shoe is perfect.
Every shoe has strengths.
Every shoe has compromises.
The important thing…
…is finding the right shoe for the right person.”
Everyone applauded.
Even the Chicken.
Although no one knows exactly what he was clapping for.
As the convention ended, the imaginary shoes walked outside beneath an imaginary moon.
The Eggs packed away the playing cards.
The Weeblys waved goodnight from the porch.
The Phoenix watched over everyone.
And somewhere…
Far away…
A lonely WordPress menu quietly locked itself for the night.
Just in case the Chicken got hungry again.
🐔
The End…
…until next year’s Great Imaginary Shoe Convention.
